WOTO empowers young people, youth workers and civil society organisations to address discrimination through an intersectional approach rooted in lived experiences, creativity and collective action.
WOTO – Working Together Against Intersectional Discrimination is a European cooperation project bringing together organisations from France, Spain, Italy and Belgium, funded in the framework of Erasmus + Youth Programme in 2025.
The project was created in response to a shared observation: young people and youth professionals are increasingly confronted with multiple and combined forms of discrimination, either as victims or witnesses. Racism and sexism, in particular, often overlap and reinforce each other, producing lasting effects of exclusion in everyday life, whether in education, employment, public spaces or institutional settings.
While many initiatives already exist, educational tools often address these forms of discrimination separately and do not fully reflect the complexity of lived experiences. WOTO adopts an intersectional approach, recognising that discrimination is shaped by the interaction of multiple social factors such as gender, origin, skin colour, social background or place of living.
By bringing together young people, youth professionals and local decision-makers, WOTO aims to strengthen individual and collective capacity to act against discrimination at local and European levels.

Turning lived experiences into concrete proposals for local public policies
WOTO is carried by four partner organisations, each deeply rooted in youth work, non-formal education, social justice and the fight against discrimination. The diversity of their profiles strengthens the project and ensures strong local anchoring in each country.
Comune di Cinisello Balsamo is a municipality located in the Lombardy region, near Milan, Italy. Through its European projects department, the municipality develops and manages activities for young people aged 16 to 30, focusing on non-formal education, social and professional inclusion, civic participation, artistic practices and digital skills.
The municipality has participated in more than 30 European projects under programmes such as Erasmus+, Europe for Citizens and CERV. Cinisello Balsamo brings strong experience in local public action and youth policy implementation.
In WOTO, the municipality contributes to youth engagement activities, artistic experimentation and dissemination, and plays a key role in linking project results to local public policies.
BePax is a non-formal education association based in Brussels, Belgium. Its core mission is to promote peace and combat racism by empowering citizens, professionals and decision-makers.
BePax adopts a strong anti-racist and intersectional approach to analysing and addressing systemic discrimination. The organisation combines research, facilitation and advocacy, and develops accessible educational resources grounded in lived experiences.
Within WOTO, BePax brings its expertise on racism and intersectionality. It leads the development of policy recommendations and contributes to the educational toolkit and artistic productions, particularly through audio and storytelling formats.
Cazalla Intercultural is a youth organisation based in Lorca, in the Region of Murcia, Spain. It specialises in non-formal education, inclusion and intercultural dialogue, and supports young people from diverse cultural backgrounds through mobility, volunteering and training projects.
The organisation is particularly recognised for its experience in intercultural workshops, where art becomes a tool for dialogue, empowerment and social transformation.
In WOTO, Cazalla Intercultural leads the work on art and civic engagement, coordinating artistic practices, local workshops and the creation of the transnational exhibition.
