WOTO Bootcamp in Bordeaux: Fighting Discrimination Together

From 26 to 30 January 2026, Bordeaux became a hub for action against discrimination! The bootcamp was organized by the Co-actions team and hosted at the Centre Information Jeunesse / Centre Europe Direct de Bordeaux (infojeunes-na.fr).

Partners from Spain, Italy, and Belgium joined forces to bring together 30 participants—16 young people and 12 youth professionals—for an intensive week of learning, experimentation, and action.

  • Learn: Understanding Discrimination
Participants explored discrimination through an intersectional lens, looking at how sexism, racism, and other forms of discrimination overlap and interact, creating unique experiences that require nuanced approaches.

  • Test: Hands-On Awareness Tools
Through practical exercises, young people and youth professionals tested innovative tools to raise awareness and tackle discrimination in real-life situations.

  • Act: Empowering Change
The bootcamp provided strategies and resources to take concrete action in communities, helping participants turn learning into practice.

On the Ground in Bordeaux

The week also included field visits connecting learning to local contexts:

  1. Musée d’Aquitaine – exploring the permanent exhibition “Bordeaux in the 18th Century: Atlantic Trade and Slavery”, in line with the project’s themes.
  2. LGBTQIA+ Community Center Girofar – discovering the space and its activities
  3. Meeting with 2 members of the Youth Regional Council of Nouvelle-Aquitaine – exchanging on their role as youth advisors and their commitment to civic engagement.

This intensive week was also an opportunity for participants and teams to explore Bordeaux, France’s 20th largest city, and to share many convivial moments together.

Why It Matters

Discrimination is rarely isolated – addressing one form alone is not enough.

This bootcamp helped participants decode complex mechanisms of discrimination and work together to challenge them effectively.

A big congratulations to all participants for your energy, insight, and commitment!

Your reflections and actions are a crucial step toward more inclusive and equitable communities.
